HIS TREASURE AND HIS OBSESSION…
Despite her longing for the sea, Macy has clung to the safety of land for half her life, devoting herself to her daily routine — until she agrees to go sailing with a childhood friend. Her fears come to fruition when a sudden storm capsizes their boat, rekindling her old terror. She awakens to a rescuer who is anything but human — and he refuses to let her go. Treated like a curiosity and a possession, she’s desperate to go home. Yet Macy is undeniably drawn to this strange creature. Can she give up her old life, her family and friends, to embrace this adventure…and Jax?
HER SAVIOR AND HER CAPTOR…
Jax the Wanderer is a hunter, an explorer, and an oddity among his kind. While other kraken are content near their dens, Jax is driven by a deep need to journey far and wide, discovering the unknown corners of the sea. Macy challenges everything he’s known; she is the most alluring creature he’s ever seen on his travels. He must possess her, though he knows it can only end in disaster. How much is he willing to forsake for the female he desires?
✧ Overall Score✧
7/10
As far as monsterlover romance novels go, Tiffany Roberts is one of my favorite authors (well, pair of authors). There’s a fair amount of spice and always with the fated mates and sexual tension, but the plots are always decent and the characters (with the exception of the FMC) are actual characters. I had fun! And I’m quite happy that there are more in this series so I don’t have to say goodbye to the world just yet.
✧ Enjoyment Score✧
7/10
A quick and easy read! There were times when I found my eye glazing over the text, but mostly it held my attention and kept me reading. I had a good time!
✧ Writing Style✧
6/10
There are definitely some places where this story could use some proper editing, but overall the prose is passable and the errors don’t really detract from the story. Not much in the way of wordplay or metaphors or deeper meaning but its not the kind of story that really lends itself to that. One of the least cloying and annoying styles in the genre.
✧ Plot✧
7.5/10
Pretty basic and not super tight, but enough to add true interest to the story. I wanna know more about the creation of the krakens and the mysterious radioactive stones, and I assume I will in the later books. (That’s just how Tiffany Roberts do) There’s enough there to keep you entertained outside of the smut scenes.
✧ Characterization✧
8.5/10
The characters aren’t very deep but they do have personality and draw. Maybe I just rate it more kindly because I expect less from romance novels, but you know how it is. I just try to meet things from the author’s intentions. Jax is fairly charming, though I look forward to reading Arkon’s novel, assuming its been written. I think it’s been set up to be the next one.
✧ Spice✧
9/10
Like I said, Tiffany Roberts is one of my favorite monsterlover romance authors. The aliens are alien and the sex is well written and emotional, though people do a bit more screaming than I think is strictly necessary hahaha. It’s also not the entire plot. And the author knows to fade to black before things become a boring slog.
